Citronella is a genus of trees and shrubs in the Cardiopteridaceae family, it lies in 25 species occurring mostly in tropical climates. Earlier the genus was treated in Icacinaceae family.
Few species have been cultivated. Citronella mucronata from Chile is remarkable for its hardiness within this genus and it is one of the most known species and has been introduced to Europe[1].
